About Ellen
October 2014, Ellen on German TV: SWRMediatheek (Language: German) Ellen on Local Radio & TV Broadcasting Boschtion: Art and Antiquefair (Rosmalen) (Language: Dutch)
When Ellen finished her college education MOA Drawing and MOA Handicrafts she immediately began to teach. Now she has been working as a self-employed artist for over 30 years. Initially she still painted a lot on assignment but working with bronze got her preference more and more. Besides working on assignments ever increasing sculptures are being sold through galleries.
Ellen mostly gets her inspiration from ballet and horses. Both are graceful and related to movement,
just like her sculptures. Through movement Ellen shows emotion in a sculpture. A horse can be wild
or cheerful or, on the other hand, very calm and reserved. You can see this in its movement, facial
expression or attitude. Besides action, colour is another theme in Ellen’s work. Colour can strengthen
the general expression.
Because of her history in painting, colour has become a very important aspect for Ellen. You can
find this in her sculptures. The human figures dance their emotions, solo or together. At times
through great movement but sometimes through an inner silence. They always radiate a certain
elegance.
Since 2009 Ellen has found a new challenge in working with glass. See more examples of Ellens sculptures on the pages Bronze and Glass.
Meanwhile Ellen’s work can be found in The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Great- Brittain, Spain, France, New York, Canada, South-Africa, Malaysia, Japan and China.
